Dear Friend,

With one week left to go before Congress breaks for August recess, I am more focused than ever to ensure that your interests are protected and your voice is heard in Washington DC. This means holding the Obama Administration accountable for it's disastrous nuclear negotiation that threatens our allies and makes America less safe. Sadly, we have gone from preventing, to managing, to encouraging Iran’s nuclear capabilities while scuttling every red line and breaking every goal established before these negotiations. Since the Obama Administration has failed to meet its own predetermined goals of these negotiations, the responsibility of rejecting this flawed "deal" falls on Congress.

For these reasons, I am issuing a challenge to YOU: I challenge the American people to make this the biggest issue of the August recess. You can do this, and we need your help. The only way that we will be able to overturn the flawed Iran negotiation is to have the American people learn the facts, speak out and take action. We can not afford to stay on the sidelines anymore... there is simply too much at stake. Throughout the month of August, I will be traveling throughout Arizona's 4th district and I look forward to having conversations with folks from all walks of life about the details of this nuclear agreement and the bold action we must take to fundamentally reject it.

Cracking Down on Sanctuary City Laws
The recent murders of innocent American citizens, Kate Steinle of San Francisco and Grant Ronnebeck of Arizona, by illegal immigrants are a direct result of the Obama Administration’s failure to uphold our immigration laws and secure the border. Tuesday, Congress heard gut wrenching and emotional testimony from the parents of children who were murdered by illegal immigrants. These grieving witnesses begged for lawmakers and the federal government to take action that ends sanctuary cities policies, secures the border and protects local communities. For that reason, I was proud to support legislation that passed the House this past week that denies certain federal grants to state and municipalities with sanctuary city policies that conflict with federal immigration law. Arizonans know better than most that we must prevent convicted criminal alien offenders from being released into our communities, secure the border and enforce the rule of law.
Priority #1: Serving the People of Arizona's 4th District
There is no greater honor than being entrusted with the responsibility of serving the great Americans in Arizona's 4th district. I have high expectations for myself and expect my constituents to hold me accountable for my service to them. Looking back on the first half of 2015, I’m proud of the work my staff and I have provided but remain committed to constantly challenging my team to improve.

Great Turnout for My Leadership Conference "Women on Deck"
Thank you to everyone who attended my women's leadership conference, "Women on Deck", this past Monday in Scottsdale! We had a great conversation with some of Arizona's most accomplished leaders discussing important topics on building success in business and politics. I look forward to hosting more events like this one in the future.
 Military Monday
This week’s ‪‎Military Monday‬ honors Robert Brutinel of Casa Grande, Arizona. Bob is a retired U.S. Marine, a small business owner, a plumber and at the age of 91 and has no plans to retire.

After enlisting to fight in WWII, Bob went on his first assignment to Guadalcanal when he 18-year old, in 1942. In 1945, he found himself at the tip of the spear serving as one of the first Marine parachuters from the 5th Division. He was in Iwo Jima for 34 days, and then was immediately sent to Japan for an additional 30 days. While in Iwo Jima, Bob was part of an elite group of Marines who carried flame throwers.

After retiring from the Marines at the age of 22, Bob went to Arizona Teachers College—now Arizona State University. Upon graduating, he took a plumbing apprenticeship, during which he met and married his wife. Bob later started his own small business, Brutinel Plumbing & Electrical Casa Grande AZ in 1949. Additionally, he belongs to several veterans’ organizations and has marched in Casa Grande’s veteran’s parade. On behalf of a grateful state and nation, I want to sincerely thank Bob for his many years of service and sacrifice.

If you know of a current or former member of the military from Arizona that you would like to recognize for Military Monday, send me a message with their contact information at: https://gosar.house.gov/contact-me or facebook.com/repgosar via direct message.

Welcoming Members of Parliament to the Grand Canyon State
Every year, I have been proud to host Members of Parliament who travel all the way from the United Kingdom to learn more about the United States and our government. This weekend, I had the pleasure of showing off our great state to Andrea Jenkyns (left) and Angela Rayner (right). I always enjoy sharing our different leadership experiences while learning about the culture of one of our closest allies.
