E-Verify is a federal government program that allows employers to confirm whether potential employees are legally allowed to work in the United States. Unfortunately, the program is only being utilized in a handful few states. This week, I cosponsored the Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act. This bill expands the E-Verify program by requiring all employers to use it, and permanently reauthorizes the program. Currently, E-Verify use is voluntary for most employers, although some states mandate its use. The bill would also increase civil and criminal penalties for hiring unauthorized aliens, require DHS to update E-Verify's design to help prevent and detect fraud and identity theft, and would require DHS to bar those who repeatedly violate immigration law from holding federal contracts or receiving federal grants.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) hid the outbreak of COVID-19 from the world, inflicting health and economic suffering on the American people. To hold the CCP accountable, I cosponsored H.R. 2272, the Chinese Government COVID-19 Accountability Act to direct the President to develop a plan for seeking reimbursement from the People’s Republic of China for funds that the United States has used to address the COVID-19 pandemic
As many of you know, I believe in the sanctity of the lives of the unborn. I have worked to promote a culture where abortion in not a first resort and one day will not be an option, not because of laws but because of a cultural understanding of the live involved. But the Biden Administration and its enablers share a death cult fascination with abortion. Sadly, the Biden Administration has expanded access to abortions in America. Many states have adopted parental notification laws to protect minors and the rights of parents. These laws, however, are easily and often circumvented due to differing abortion laws in neighboring states. This week, I also cosponsored the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act which would make it a crime to knowingly transport a minor across state lines to obtain an abortion without satisfying parental involvement law in the minor’s state of residence. Physicians would also be required to comply with parental notification laws.
